Muting Channels

(Written by Kautiontape)

Part of the concern may be that there are so many channels, but there actually aren't a lot you have to pay attention to regularly. So a little trick is to aggressively mute channels you aren't involved in, which also helps you focus down until you get more comfortable as you figure out more. Advice below is just my opinion, everyone can have their own. You can always read channels that are muted, but not be bombarded with them while something is happening.

Keep the Discussion Channels unmuted because that's general talk and fun. Never too busy.

You can read #downtime-overview, but you don't have to do a downtime yet. Those are on a biweekly cycle that happen all at once. Mute all the other channels in that section.

You can keep #merchant-ooc unmuted, but you can mute the others until you plan on purchasing items. They're closed right now for lore reasons, so you can wait to call Ivy a hag until it opens back up.

Read #town-lore , then mute the channels in Town RP Area except for #rp-voting , #town-ooc , and #tavern-bar-room. Hop into #tavern-bar-room whenever you feel a good chance to, and just RP a bit of a hello.

Mute everything in Edge of Town except maybe #edge-ooc until you have a scene there.

Read the #arena-rules and leave a "check" in #arena-queue. Mute everything except #arena-queue so you can see how the queue progresses. By the time you're up, you should have more familiarity with the dice and server.

Mute everything in the Arena for now, until you wish to PvP.

Keep everything in the Quests tab unmuted. Those will be important on the 1st and 15th when new quests happen.

Mute everything in the adventures categories. Those will only be important during quests.

In the end, you should have a handful of places that you can focus on, and you can feel free to read the rest at your leisure!
